The drive home from Colorado would be long without another stop so we made a return to Grand Teton National Park on the way back. We stayed at the Jackson Lake Lodge cottages which wasn't as nice as the Coulter Bay cabin we stayed at previously, but it gave us access to the lodge and for a national park first, a pool.
We started our first full day with a short boat trip across Jenny Lake to the Inspiration Point trailhead. We did this hike 14 years with Rachel and Lily, but it was new for Vivian. The hike followed Cascade Creek to a rocky traverse up to the point. The views unfortunately weren't that great due to smoke and clouds. On the way down we were excited to spot some pikas amongst the rock piles. On our last visit Rachel talked about the pikas all the way down the trail so it was good for her to meet them again. Rather than taking the boat back we returned via a hike around Jenny Lake. We spotted the only moose from the trip at not surprisingly named Moose Ponds.
After a break at our room we did a loop hike along Heron Pond and Swan Lake. Again not surprisingly we saw herons and swans. Lily spotting many other birds on the hike and met a fellow bird watcher along the way.
Overall it was another nice visit to Grand Teton. We've done practically all the easy hikes and seen most of the sights the park has to offer so we probably would only return to experience another season.
