In 2020 we had to cancel our planned road trip through the Colorado national parks due to the pandemic. After a four year wait we finally were able to make the trip. Our first stop was at Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. The canyon gets its name from steep shadowed walls that drop over 2000' to the Gunnison River. It was a scenic canyon, but pales in comparison to the vast Grand Canyon in Arizona. We explored the canyon via both a short hike and a short drive along the rim. We also took a steep decent road down to the Gunnison River. We camped two nights at the South Rim Campground. The camping was pleasant, but due to water restrictions we couldn't cook as much as we had hoped. Overall the park was decent, but it was small and not as spectacular as many of the other national parks we've visited.
