For my final training ride in Oregon I did a 106 mile, 6200 loop around Mount Bachelor. I did a counterclockwise loop and for much of the ride the mountain could be seen on my left. Butterflies were out in full force during most of the day and at times I was riding along with flocks of hundreds of the arthropods. I couldn't find any bike route descriptions for the east side of the loop which made me a bit nervous. It ended up being the most scenic part of the ride with lakes and streams enhancing the views of the surrounding Bachelor, Sisters and Broken Top peaks. I found out later it was the Cascade Lake National Scenic Byway. Though the road had narrower shoulders I thought it was perfectly fine for experienced cyclists. Overall it was a great ride on beautiful day.
