I really hate Las Vegas. I don't like the gambling. I don't like how everything is expensive. I don't like the excessive tipping culture. Yet it was along our route from Grand Canyon to Death Valley so we thought it wouldn't be bad to expose the kids to the city for one night.
We got a room at the Flamingo overlooking the Strip. More importantly the hotel had a kid friendly pool. We had enough time to enjoy the pool and slides, but it was soon closed to allow for the adult pool to kick into full party mode.
We took the kids inside some of the casinos to get the Vegas experience. Lily actually liked the inside decorations and hoped to return one day with her nana. We also walked along the Strip at night taking in the sights including the Bellagio fountains and the Mirage volcano.
Despite the late night we were up early the next morning ready to leave and take on Death Valley.
