It had been 18 years since Jamie and I visited Universal Studios, but we had to go this time just to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter area which had opened the year before. They did a great job making the area feel like we were at Hogsmeade. The main attraction was the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride which was rather amazing not just for the experience, but the technology involved to create it. Also at Hogsmeade the girls got a wand at Olivanders which would activate items in the shop windows with certain wand movements.

Besides the Harry Potter area, we couldn’t go to Universal Studios without doing the Studio Tour. Despite being partially old school, the girls enjoyed the tram ride. Also as a family we also did the Simpsons and Despicable Me rides. Thrill seeker Vivian was the only girl brave enough to do the Jurassic Park ride with me and was unfazed by the 80 feet drop at the end.
