Matt and I had hoped to get in a backpacking trip with our older girls this Summer, but schedules and weather prevented that from happening. Instead we opted for a day hike along the Burroughs mountains near Sunrise at Mount Rainier. The hike consisted of a semi-loop across three progressively higher hills which make up Burroughs Mountain. The mountain was mostly barren which allowed for grand views of Mount Rainier during most of the hike. The hike back looped through meadows and forest which was a nice contrast to the hike up. Vanessa and Rachel did very well on the 9 mile hike, through not with some expected whining. Overall it was a great trip and the girls are more than ready for a backpack trip next year.
