Our 3400 mile road trip to six national parks included many long periods of driving between destinations. Along the way we made some shorter stops to break up the monotony. Notable stops included:
Golden Spike National Historic Site in Utah where the Union and Central Pacific Railroads joined in 1869
Thiokol Rocket Garden in Utah where rockets were manufactured
Natural Bridges National Monument Utah which was a small park with some natural rock bridges
Walla Walla Washington where we finished up the trip with some wine tasting
Sacajawea State Park Washington which was a campsite for the Lewis and Clark expedition
