We headed back across the lake and drove to Moose Junction where we got to see none other than a family of moose. We also went to the park headquarters and Rachel got her second Junior Ranger badge. A thunderstorm was nearing the campsite so we decided to break camp and stay at a warmer and drier hotel in the nearby town of Jackson.
The next day we packed to go back home, but not before getting in one more hike at the Laurence S. Rockefeller Preserve. Along the way we saw a black bear eating berries off the road. The hike through the preserve was very peaceful with fall foliage, a gentle creek and Phelps Lake at the midpoint. After the hike we stopped at Jackson one more time for lunch and then began our two day trip home.
