Olympic Peninsula Trip - Hoh Rainforest

Hurricane Ridge | Hoh Rainforest | Kalaloch

After Hurricane Ridge we drove over the east side of the peninsula to the Hoh Rainforest. Not surprisingly, it rained while we were there but we didn't let it dampen our spirits. At our campsite Rachel was very excited to see some slugs. She missed the deer and chipmunk we saw on Hurricane Ridge so the slugs were the wildlife highlight of the trip.

The next day we went on two short trails at the visiters center, the Hall of Mosses and the Spruce Nature Trail. The Hall of Mosses held no surprises, a bunch of giant old trees covered in moss. The abundance of greenery made for a beautiful hike. Many of the gnarled mossy trees appeared to be in a slow motion dance through the forest. The Spruce Nature Trail was less impressive, but Rachel was excited to see the Hoh River along the way.
