For Rachel's first summit we hiked to the top of the 5475' Mount Beljica of the Southwest corner of Mount Rainier. The hike was short with little elevation gain, but the bugs were terrible during the entire hike. We almost had a mutiny near the summit due to the bugs, but luckily we pushed on to make it to the top. The view from the summit offered a great vista of Mount Rainier along with Adams and St. Helens, but due to the bugs we only took a short break and headed back down. At two hours this ended up being the fastest summit we ever completed. Though the bugs pestered the adults, Rachel actually had a good time for most of the hike.
