We woke well rested the next day and headed to Pere Lachaise Cemetery. This large and famous cemetery holds many of the city's illustrious dead. It is truly a city of the dead complete with streets and street signs. The graves of Frederic Chopin, Oscar Wilde and Jim Morrison were among them.

Our next stop was the Bastille where we grabbed a bite of lunch to eat at a sunny cafe. Well fed, we were at the stating point for a walk through the Marais as described by our Rick Steves guidebook. The Marais neighborhood was like going back in time since many of the buildings and lanes were pre-Revolutionary. We visited Place de Vosges (a local park), Victor Hugo's home, the Carnavale Museum (a surprisingly large museum focusing on Paris' history), the Jewish Quarter and finally to Paris' modern art museum, Pompidou Center.

After our walk we took a break at our hotel and then headed to Picollo Teatro to celebrate our 3rd anniversary over a romantic dinner. We ate at this romantic restaurant on our last trip and couldn't wait to return. We ended our special day with a touristy, yet enjoyable evening river cruise along the Seine river.
