We saw so many things in our four days in Rome that there is just no way to describe it in detail. We walked through ruins almost 2000 years old, climbed to the top of the largest cathedral in the world, marveled at fountains that were works of art, gaped in awe at "small" churches with exquisite interiors and dined on authentic Italian cuisine amongst the crowds. One area to note is the imposing Vittorio Emmanuele II Monument. This huge white structure can be seen throughout the city. Built in 1885 it has become a symbol of Italian unity. Our guidebooks made no mention of this prominent structure, so we're giving it some credit here.
