After Paris, our original plan was to spend a couple days enjoying the sun in the south of France. Since it had been so hot, we changed plans and headed to Annecy near the French Alps. The town is made up of brightly colored medieval buildings and abundant flower gardens. Though crowded and touristy, we found the town quite charming with the Alps as a backdrop and a small river flowing around the buildings. For the first and only time in France, we enjoyed the full French meal deal: drinks, entree (fondue - a specialty of this region), dessert and cafe. We only spent the night and early next morning we headed across the border to Italy.
