Strolling the Cliffs of Howth

With my work complete in London, I decided to go to Ireland for a few days since I had never been there before. I went to Dublin and spent a day touring the town. After being in London for more than a week Dublin seemed very small. I did find a few interesting areas including Trinity College, The Guinness Brewery and the Temple Bar area.

The next day I took a train to the coastal town of Howth located just outside of Dublin. From Howth I hiked along a trail which hugs the cliffs rising above the Irish Sea. Very few people were on the trail so I had a few hours of solitude with just me and sounds of the waves crashing against the cliffs. Near the end of my hike I came across a lighthouse which supposedly housed Salman Rushdie for a night during during his days of hiding.

I returned to Dublin and flew home to Seattle the next day. I don't feel as though I got the complete Irish experience from my brief visit. Although I'm not complaining, and neither is Jamie since I brought home Waterford on my return.
