Crevasse Rescue Trip
In June, I completed the Crevasse Rescue trip which was the last of the field trips for my climbing class.
We spent the weekend at Mount Rainier
on the Nisqually Glacier practicing glacier climbing and crevasse rescue techniques.
In this first photo I'm in a crevasse with some fellow students. Though I have the capability to climb
out I must wait for two other students outside the crevasse to rig a pulley system which they will use to pull me out.
Here I'm belaying a safety line to one of the students in the crevasse. Two sets of
students are performing crevasse rescue in this picture. Notice where the ropes disappear
into the crevasse.
Ocassionly during practice I would look up and remember that I'm acually on Rainier which
is always impressive to see.
