Before the large rapids, two in our group were paddling the duckies and both flipped in a decent size rapid. Though they flipped in a larger rapid than I did, I still feel better now that I'm not the only one who went swimming on the trip.
At the beginning of the day, the canyon opened up with the walls being very far apart. At the end of the day the walls got very close creating a dark steep 'V'. The rock in this area was around 1.7 billion years old.
During lunch we hiked up Red Canyon which wasn't as interesting as the other side canyons we had done.
We camped just upstream from Phantom Ranch. Again, we didn't use a tent. I didn't sleep as well this time though.
For our final dinner we had jumbalaya.
