Mirror Lake Hike

Not all our family hikes go as well as planned and Mirror Lake was one such example. Just off of Snoqualmie Pass and at only two miles round trip this seemed like a good hike to take the kids. Unfortunately there were quite a few mosquitoes there to greet us and I forgot to bring the bug repellent. Rachel, Vivian and I weren't bothered much by them, but they were quite attracted to Jamie. They weren't drawn to Lily as much, but she was terrified if just single one got near her. It made for an unpleasant hike up and a much worse hike down. We made it to the lake, but Lily and Jamie were in no mood to hang around so we immediately turned back. There was some snow near the lake which allowed for a brief distraction as the kids had fun playing in it. Perhaps lake hikes aren't ideal for our family during the middle of summer or at the least next time I'll need to remember to bring something with a high DEET percentage.
