Skagit Valley Tulips

Though Jamie and I have lived in Washington all our life we've never gone up to the Skagit Valley to see the tulips in the Spring. On our way up we were shocked by the heavy Sunday traffic on I-5. At Mount Vernon we came across a mile long line on the shoulder for the main exit. A bit discouraged we went further on to Hwy 20 to find an alternate route. The traffic was better, but still very heavy. We thought about going back home, but decided to contribute to the traffic. I think we made the right decision as the tulip fields were incredible to view once we got there.

The first field we visited had endless rows of thousands of red and yellow tulips. Rachel liked them a lot, but it involved countless repetitions of the phase "Don't touch the flowers". We next drove to the Roozengaarde display garden which had dozens of colorful tulip gardens to see. Rachel took a dive into one of them, but only by accident. Though the traffic was terrible we were glad to make it up to the tulip festival for our first time. Next time we'll definitely go during the weekday or tour on bikes.
