East Cast Trip - Washington D.C. Sights

D.C. Sights | D.C. Memorials | Virginia | Maryland | Pennsylvania | Family

In November we went on a two week trip to the East Coast to visit my mom's side of the family and see the sights. It was Rachel's first trip as a toddler and she did great on the plane, car rides and all the touring we did. Jamie had only been to the East Coast once and it was over ten years since my last visit with the family.

Our longest stay of the trip was in Washington D.C. We spent most of our time touring along the National Mall, the 2 mile rectangular park between the Capitol and the Lincoln Memorial. We toured the Capitol, saw the original Declaration of Independence and Constitution, saw the Washington Monument and White House and walked through Ford's Theater where Lincoln was shot. Rachel had lots of fun in the Smithsonian Air and Space and Natural History museums. We enjoyed the newly opened International Spy Museum which was filled with real spy gadgets. We also visited the National Zoo which we had mostly to ourselves due to drizzly weather. We got to see the pandas including Tai Shan, the panda cub who is only a week younger than Rachel.
