McClellan Butte Hike

In what seems to be an I-90 corridor themed hiking summer, my sister and I hiked up McClellan Butte, just east of North Bend. For years I've driven past this pointy peak wondering it's name. Recently I learned its name and that a trail led up the peak. The trail winds around the peak and stops about 100 feet from the top. From there a rock scramble continues to the summit. Normally the scramble wouldn't be much of a problem for us, but the exposed 1,000 foot drop off made us too nervous to continue. The bugs were out in full force so didn't spend much time before turning around. Though we missed a summit, the 9 mile, 3,500' gain hike was good exercise.
