A trip to Paris would not be complete without a visit to the Eiffel Tower. On our way to the tower we walked through the nearby market street of Rue Cler and picked up bread, wine and cheese. We had a picnic at Parc du Champ de Mars, just next to the Eiffel Tower. Last year we couldn't make it to the top of the tower, but this time we had no problem. We were lucky enough to reach the top just as the sun was setting. A lot of other people were as lucky as we were . . . it was pretty crowded up there. After the sunset and we had taken in the views from the top of the Tower, we took the elevator down to the second floor and walked down the steps to the first floor. As we were heading down, the tower went into its hourly sparkly light presentation which filled the stairs with flashing lights as we were walking down.
