On our third day in London we went to the Tower of London. The Tower is actually a castle containing several towers. Jamie had a great time soaking up all the history in the Tower and we spent much more time there than we had intended. The extra hours we spent at the Tower of London resulted in us missing out on Westminster Abbey, again (we had been trying to get into the Abbey since our first day in London and always found it to be closed upon our arrival). So we headed out to see Buckingham Palace and to catch up on any royalty action. No royals were to be found, but we did enjoy the surrounding gardens. On our last day we eventually made it to Westminster Abbey, on our third try. Consecrated in 1065 it has since been the site for every royal coronation. It also is the final resting place for an amazing amount of royalty, politicians, poets and artists. The list includes Mary Queen of Scots, Sir Isaac Newton, Charles Dickens and Rudyard Kipling.
