London - The City

Europe Map

After a long and restless flight from Seattle we arrived in London to start our trip through Europe. In previous experiences, David had found London to be rainy and dreary, but this time the weather was mostly nice, even warm at some times. We saw all the standard sights including the Tower of London, the Tower Bridge, Westminster Abbey, Parliament (Big Ben) and Buckingham Palace. We also went to the theater district to see the Lion King, stopped by King's Cross Station to see Platform 9 3/4 (of Harry Potter fame), saw some great gardens and admired the pastel colored houses in Notting Hill. One surprise for us was to see the London Marathon. We had come from up from the Tube to see Westminster Abbey and found a huge crowd in the area. Looking out into the streets we found the top finishers closing in on the finish line.
