Oregon Trip - Central Oregon

In August, Jamie and I headed down to Eugene Oregon to attend the wedding of her friend Trista. Before heading back home we decided to spend a couple days experiencing central Oregon. Our destination was Smith Rock, but on the way we checked out a few interesting sights. Along Highway 126 we saw Koosah and Sahalie Falls and checked out a lava tube. We also stopped at the western themed town of Sisters. It didn't quite have the charm of Winthrop (Washington's western town), but it was still nice.

We eventually got to Smith Rock which is a ridge of rock formations that is very popular with rock climbers. We made camp in the area and amazingly there was not a raindrop or cloud to be found. Since this was a very rare situation for us we didn't even put the rain fly on the tent. With the top screen unzipped we had a fantastic view of the star filed sky throughout the night.
